REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Cars 2 Video Game

As our very first video game review, this was a great way to start.  Already huge fans of the Cars franchise, we were first in line to see the new Cars 2 movie.  The kids have been on such a Cars 2 kick, it’s been all about Finn McMissile, Holley Shiftwell, Mater and of course Lightning McQueen.

The [Wii] video game was a great way to bring the action right into our living room.  Before the wrapper was even ripped off the kids were giddy with excitement.  While the game wasn’t age appropriate for my 4 year old, she was happy to watch alongside my 7 year old as he quickly adapted to the game.  Here I was sitting with the manual, ready to read off the instructions and he SHUSHED me!  “I got it Momo!  It’s sooooo easy!”  Well excuse me Agent J!  He was right of course.  In two lickity split seconds he had it all figured out and was quickly passing all his C.H.R.O.M.E. (Command Headquarters for Recon Operations and Motorized Espionage) training missions.  What a fun game it is!  I watched the 7 year old weaving all around for a bit before I myself jumped into the action.  Hey, I’m a kid at heart!

Game Features

  • Choose from more than 20 different characters, such as Mater, Lightning McQueen and the newly introduced Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell, and train to become world class spies
  • Participate in simulated hazardous missions using high-tech gadgets
  • Perform maneuvers only Cars characters can do, such as backwards driving, air tricks, sidestepping to avoid obstacles, two-wheel driving and more

They’ll take on dangerous missions, compete to become the fastest race car in the world, or use their spy skills in exciting, action-packed combat racing and battle arenas. Players can race against friends and family in either single or multiplayer modes with up to four players to unlock challenging new tracks, characters, events and thrilling spy missions. The DS version includes exclusive global locations not seen in the film. We’re just now getting into all the different missions around the globe.  I’m loving that this game allows up to four players to make this game interactive in so many more ways. While I initially didn’t think my 4 year old was old enough for this game, the races were simple enough for her to understand the concept.  Kids these days never cease to amaze me.  They pick up technology as if they breath it!  Any game that allows all my kids to play nicely together gets a thumbs up from me!  As I’m slowly easing into the video game, I’m glad this game is align with some of our values.

The Cars 2 video game also integrates with World of Cars Online.  With the purchase of your Cars 2 game on Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, Playstation3, or Xbox 360, you’ll be able to link your video game account with The World of Cars Online. Complete Levels or Circuits in your Cars 2 game and unlock coins, hood stickers, and more in The World of Cars Online! In addition, if you complete certain tasks in The World of Cars Online you’ll unlock new characters and earn special rewards in your Cars 2 video game!
