Google Play Brings Family Play Time to NYC!

I am avid Google user. I can honestly say I use Google for almost every web search or internet inquiry I have, be it lyrics to a particular song or something related to a discussion I am having. I have even taught my five-year-old how to look things up on Google (which is particularly useful when he has projects that require a bit of research). Google has an endless wealth of information.  I mean, there is a reason why people are often found saying “I can just Google it” when seeking out information about a particular subject of interest.

Recently, my family had an opportunity to check a one-day pop-up event with Google Play in NYC. There, we were introduced to some family-friendly, interactive, fun and games with activities that brought a whole new level of excitement to Google. The #FamilyPlayTime event welcomed kids of all ages and gave us the chance to discover all the latest family offerings at the Google Play store.  My kids (and my husband) had a blast testing out all that Google Play has to offer.

Google has a reputation for making internet searches quick and simple and that concept easily translates over into Google Play apps where there is something for users of any age. My two-year-old was enamored by the Sesame Street games, Grover and Elmo (who made an appearance at the event), while my older son kept going back to the Crayola DJ app to create some cool, unique beats. I must add that my husband was getting into both of these apps with our kids as well!

The Google Play apps are perfectly suited for kids to explore and navigating them is relatively easy. Whether it is our family favorite Toca Boca that you want to play, or the ever popular Sponge Bob game frenzy, Google play makes everything easily accessible with just a simple swipe of your finger.IMG_5421

I’d say the coolest app that we got to check out was the Tynker drone. There, my husband and five-year-old took their drone to the sky and were able to control it’s movements via an easy to use app.

At Google Play’s #FamilyPlayTime event, we also had the chance to rub shoulders with some pretty cool celebrity influencers that were in attendance like Drea de Matteo (actress), Karolina Kurkova (model), Emeka Okafor (NBA player) and many more!

Years ago, my husband and I were Google and Android users. We ended up switching to mostly Apple products about four years ago, but after seeing all the tablets, apps, and offerings at this event it was clear that Google has caught up with (and possibly passed) it’s competition in many of their products.  With so many partnerships and new applications, perhaps it is time for our family to return to Google based phones and tablets.

{ disclosure:  I was invited to an exclusive one-day pop-up event hosted by Google Play.  While I received a swag bag, no other compensation was involved and as always, all opinions expressed here are my very own! For more information and posts like this, follow #FamilyPlayTime }
