Do More with your iPhone XR

I don’t know about you, but the last round of iPhone releases from Apple had me a little confused. So many options. Aside from the X being newer than the 8, and obviously an upgrade, but what’s new?

They are definitely upgrades indeed! Having play time with my new iPhone XR for a few weeks now, I didn’t know I could love my iPhone anymore. I could talk about the all-screen design with a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina display, faster Face ID for an intuitive and secure way to unlock, and the A12 Bionic chip… but what’s really important to me?

THE CAMERA. Want that gorgeous bokeh effect you usually see with expensive? The iPhone XR has a breakthrough single-camera system and the TrueDepth camera. Not only can you adjust the depth of field before you shoot, but you can adjust after too! To change the depth of field before you shoot, set to Portrait mode, then tap the ‘f’ icon in the top-right corner of the screen and drag the Depth Control slider. To edit your “Portrait” after you shoot, go to Edit and drag the Depth Control slider. Depth Control with Portrait mode also works on the front-facing TrueDepth camera for even more stunning selfies.

GROUP FACETIME. You can connect up to 32 friends with Group FaceTime (available with iOS 12.1) by simply adding them with the ‘+’ button within the FaceTime app and select audio or video to start the call.  Make the conversation livelier with new filters and effects.

MEMOJI AND MEMOJI FUN. We know emojis but Apple now gives you the power to create your very own animoji and taking it to the next level with Camera Effects which lets you use your Memoji is so many entertaining ways.

SPLIT SCREEN. Appealing to the organizational and need for efficiency side of me, despite its smaller size compared to the iPhone 8+, it’s actually a larger all-screen size which by simply turning your iPhone XR from vertical to horizontal, toggles split screen.

It’s easy just to get an upgrade because it’s an upgrade but the iPhone XR has some seriously cool new features.

AUGMENTED REALITY is now built right into iOS. I’m obsessed with it, my kids are obsessed with it. It’s AMAZING! Apps like Wonderscope and Lego AR Playgrounds need to be downloaded for your kids. It needs to be experienced first hand. Watching a game come to life in your own environment is just mind-blowing. Fellow shoppers will love using AR for apps you probably already have on your phone like IKEA Place, Houzz, Wayfair, and even Amazon, that places items or furniture life size into your home. { Visit using Safari on your iPhone XR to see what their products look like through the power of AR. }

THE BOTTOM LINE. Finally a true understanding of what’s new and not just an upgrade for an upgrade. It couldn’t be clearer, this was definitely a significant upgrade for the iPhone and one you’ll be quick to realize is a must.

{ disclosure: I received an Apple XR iPhone as a loaner. As always all opinions expressed here are my very own and I have owned iPhones for as long as they have been making them. }
