Disney on Ice: 100 years of Magic

I was lucky enough to be able to take my 3 year old son and his best friend (a stand in for his brother who was home sick) to their first ever Disney on Ice Experience last week. We were at opening night for the production at Nassau Coliseum, in Long Island, NY. Needless to say, Disney on Ice Celebrates 100 Years of Magic, was by far, their greatest show yet! The kids were amazed the moment they set foot in the arena, as there was so much to see and do before you even got to your seats. There were cute spinning character toys, and cotton candy with Mickey ear-ed crowns for the kids, and plenty of photo displays for the adults to capture memories!
Upon settling in our seats, the kids couldn’t stop talking about the big “Disney castle” that was on the ice before them. All that and the show hadn’t even begun yet!
photo-2-150x150[1]Though we didn’t recognize all of the characters in the show (because there are just so many!!) The kids squealed with excitement when Mickey and Minnie skated onto the ice, and they almost jumped right out of their seats when they saw Alladin and Jasmin. It was so much fun watching them sing along, and clap for their favorite performances.
My son said he loved the scene with Pinocchio and the whale, which was an incredible sight to see brought to life. My personal favorite was the portion with the light show in It’s a Small World.
The special effects were amazing, from fireworks and sound effects to lights and songs. The costumes were fantastic (especially Pumba’s from the Lion King), and the skating itself was simply amazing.
The finale was one that will not soon be forgotten, with every character coming out to skate for one last time. It really left us with a feeling of wonderment and excitement, that I’m sure both kids will be talking about for a long time.

{ disclosure:  I received complimentary tickets for opening night.  As always, all opinions expressed here are my very own. }
