Custom TV by FiOS: Yay or Nay? #LifeOnFiOS

bundleFinally the weather got the message, it’s SPRING! A perfect time for spring cleaning, out with the old and in with the new and better FiOS Custom TV plan! This plan may not be for everyone, but it’s a great time to evaluate your plan and make sure it’s right for your family.  With over 500 channels available on FiOS and definitely not enough time to watch them all even if we did every minute of every day, it’s the perfect time to re-evaluate our plan.

As always, I recommend picking up your phone and calling Verizon directly at 1-888-845-6199. Conversations are rare these days I know, and most people have become so accustom to going online or automated phone calls, but I have never regretted speaking to a Verizon representative. Before you pick up that phone, have the following available:

  • A copy of your most recent bill with your account number and details of your plan or bundle if you’re a current FiOS customer or a copy of your current bill with your service provider.  If you’re a current FiOS customer, your Verizon agent can pull up this information on their computer with a few security checks, but it’s always nice to have the visuals.
  • A list of everyone’s favorite channels.  TIP: Look at your DVR list which usually is a great start on what your must have shows and channels are.
  • Access to your computer so you can walk-thru the plans and options Current plan channel line ups can be found here:
  • A pen and piece of paper

The new FiOS Custom TV plan starts with 150+ Digital channels and 25 HD Channels including favorites like CNN, HGTV, Food Network, NBC, ABC and CW.  Each additional channel package (lifestyle, kids, sports, pop, entertainment, news, sports +) is $10 each. Right now, new FiOS customers who purchase a Custom TV Triple Play package can get a $300 visa gift card with a 2 year contract!

In a household as big as mine, with tastes and ages ranging from 2 – 75 years old, pre-school programming, entertainment, to lifestyle and sports, we would have been purchasing every channel package and I wasn’t sure that the Custom TV package would be right for my family. It turns out that was totally okay! Purchase every package and there is a discount for that as well! My Verizon agent was able to customize a package that was perfect for my family and even found a few additional savings for us as well! Savings I definitely would not have found on my own.
