Build-A-Bear Workshop turns 15! #FriendsCount

In 15 years, Build-A-Bear has helped to create 100 million best furry friends.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, they asked me to share a story about one of my friends, my best friend.  With valentine’s day right around the corner, this was the perfect opportunity to highlight my very best friend in the whole world… my husband.

I am bless to have many people I can call friends, and quite a few that I consider my best friends.  I like to think that I am wealthy because good friends are invaluable.  But every time I referenced a friend with the “best friend” title, it would irk my husband because he thought that he should be my best friend.  I would always reply, but you are my husband, isn’t that so much better?  I mean really, isn’t it?  But if I looked at the definition of a best friend (via,
Best Friends are very special people in your life. They are the first people you think about when you make plans. They are the first people you go to when you need someone to talk to. You will phone them up just to talk about nothing, or the most important things in your life. When you’re sad they will try their hardest to cheer you up. They give the best hugs in the world! They are the shoulder to cry on, because you know that they truly care about you. In most cases they would take a bullet for you, coz it would be too painful to watch you get hurt.
He really IS my very best friend.  He is the first person I think about when making plans, the last person I see before I go to sleep and the first person I see in the morning.  Although of late with my job, it’s been rough.  After 10+ years together, we still miss each other when I’m working nights and I think that is pretty awesome.  He is the person I call to tell important things, and not so important things… just to hear his voice.  He doesn’t even get mad when I call him just to tell him I saw someone pee on a tree.  Yep, even the stupid stuff.  He is always trying to make me happy, whether its spoiling me with a gift when we really can’t afford it or going into work late just to see me in the morning after work.  He’s stood by me on my darkest days and supported me when I altered our family’s life completely by going back to school.  He’ll endure my hours and hours on the computer without a complaint.  He gave me the best gift of all, my children.  He would TOTALLY take a bullet for me.  Did I mention after 10 years he’s still pretty HOT, even hotter when he’s with my kids.

Happy 15th Build-A-Bear!  Thanks for reminding us that Friends Count!
