Pampers Swaddlers Honors Nurses with #ThankYouNurses Awards

Pampers-TYN-social-512x256Nursing isn’t just any career, or a routine way to make a living. It’s a profession that takes a certain type of passionate and caring person. Nursing feels more like it is an art form that requires devotion, dedication and a strong sense of compassion. Being a nurse often means putting others before yourself and often being away from your family to care for someone else’s.  Most nurses can say that they have missed countless holidays and family moments over the years. Despite all this, we, as nurses, don’t go to work looking for recognition or praise. We go to work every day to simply help patients through some of the most vulnerable, or memorable moments of their lives.
As an ER nurse turned Labor and Delivery nurse, I find I have one of the most incredible jobs in the world. I have the honor of experiencing the miracle of life every day, (and sometimes multiple times a day). What an amazing role I get to play each day, as I am able to aid new mothers in bringing new lives into our world. It is a privilege to take part in such a momentous occasion in each patient’s life and I never take for granted how important my job is during those very first moments between a parent and their newborn.
There is one week out of every year where nurses everywhere are recognized for their hard work. National Nurses Appreciation Week is May 6th- May 12th this year, and it is meant to show nurses that they are recognized and appreciated for their hard work, dedication, and excellent patient care. Nurses Appreciation week is also meant to acknowledge the importance of nursing in any field.
Pampers recognizes the importance of Nurses and together with the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), has created the first annual Pampers Swaddlers Thank You Nurses Awards. The awards honor nurses across three categories; Labor & Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Postpartum nursing.TW Final Color (2)
Over the last several months Pampers has received hundreds of incredible stories and nominations from all over the country for the Pampers Swaddlers Thank You Nurses Awards. They have taken the time to sort through every nomination and have finally narrowed their selections down to three finalists: Trice Harrold, K. Michelle Doyle, and Anna Gallagher. All incredible women and nurses in their own right, these women exemplify what it means to be a nurse, specifically in our field of nursing. You can watch their inspirational stories here:
