Get Carded with IDNYC #NYC

I am literally giddy writing this post and so happy I live in NYC.  Mayor DiBlasio announced during his state of the city address last year, is plan for a government-issued identification card that is available to all City residents age 14 and older regardless of immigration status called IDNYC. While the root of this identification card is to provide immigrants, whether illegal residents or not, to obtain and access city services such as schools as well as interactions with the police when they need help, this card is for every resident in NYC.

Now through December 31, 2015, IDNYC is a FREE identification card which also provides a bevy of benefits including:

  • one-year free membership package at 33 of the City’s leading cultural institutions, including world class museums, performing arts centers, concert halls, botanical gardens, and zoos in all five boroughs.  We are talking Brooklyn Children’s Museum, New York Botanical Gardens, The Bronx Zoo, New York Hall of Science and even the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
  • Free access to public libraries in New York, Brooklyn and Queens.  Your IDNYC card can even act as your library card!
  • discounts on Broadway shows, entertainment and even movie tickets!
  • much much more!

To apply, fill out an application, along with proof of residency and identification to one of the many Enrollment Centers across NYC.

I’m getting one! Are you?
