REVIEW: Kidizoom Smartwatch from @VTech – The Latest in Wearable Technology for Kids

IMG_1327 (1)At four and a half years of age, my son is just beginning to learn how to tell time. He loves looking at clocks and letting us know what the time is wherever we go. When I was offered to check out the new Kidizoom Smartwatch by VTech, I thought ‘what a great way to help him learn how to tell time all on his own’. I didn’t realize just how much more the VTech Smartwatch would actually be.

IMG_0301A wonderful wearable gadget of sorts, the Kidizoom Smartwatch not only tells children the time, but it can also take pictures, shoot videos, record voices and play lots of learning games! Kids can customize their watch faces and they have many photo effects and themes to choose from, giving their Smartwatch a personalized touch. The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch is ready to use out of the box which, with an eager four year old, is a huge plus.

The Smartwatch is aptly named. VTech has essentially taken the idea of the ever popular grown-up versions of similar products and adapted that to make a smart and comparable child-friendly watch. The Smartwatch can easily being praised by many as the most fully equipped wearable technology for children to date.

  • A clock display – analog or digital, this display has 30+ display options including but not limited to themed backgrounds and a wide variety of colors.
  • A multifunction camera – the Kidizoom Smartwatch has the ability to take photos or videos, and add image effects as well as voice recording and altering capabilities. My son really enjoys these features and can usually be found recording himself a ‘memo’ of sorts or taking pictures of his little brother.
  • Games – there are several games included on this device including a detective game that has kids recognize and identify faces including personal picture that have been taken, or a cute music game where children can learn to recognize musical notes in songs.

My son loves the touch screen and finds the watch easy to navigate and personalize. As a child who has become comfortable with other VTech products (such as the InnoTab S3) my son is easily engaged and entertained by his Kidizoom Smartwatch, and as his parent, I am pleased that he is having fun and learning, even while on the go.
