REVIEW: The Armadillo City

luca-armadillocityA clever name for the very clever Mamas & Papas Armadillo City!  Yes this mom got a chance to review yet another stroller, and this one is love.  If you’ve been following along, you know that I am all about compact.  The smaller packaging does it for me all the time now.  I simply can’t turn back!  The Armadillo City stroller is in their compact lightweight stroller category.  Coming in at only 15 pounds, it rivals any umbrella stroller.  Geared towards city families, I think it also bodes well for suburban families like my own.  While I definitely could get a larger car (seriously, I have an Acadia, the next size up is a Tank), I’m all about reclaiming my trunk space.  While an umbrella stroller is perfect for on the go, it still takes up quite a bit of real estate in the trunk, which is where the Armadillo City out beats its rivals.

Since I live in both worlds, this stroller also did well on our city treks.  I was able to manuever the stroller very easily through the city and subways.  No elevator?  No problem, the quick, easy one handed fold, had me able to keep my children in tow, holding baby with one hand and stroller with the other.  I was able to move up and down stairs with ease.

  • generous sun canopy with SPF 50+ protection (up 31% bigger than competitors)
  • love the peekaboo window so I can play with my little Luca
  • NICE NICE basket below (up to 35% bigger than others)
  • One handed fold and open in less than 3 seconds!
  • Gentle recline, perfect for baby that has fallen asleep.  Yay to longer nap times!
  • It came with a rain cover – it’s the small things. my mother-in-law, who takes the baby to pick up his cousin from school, thanks you.

  • Wish the seat could sit a little more upright
  • Wish it came with a cup holder

While it makes its home in the compact stroller category, this stroller is loaded with considerations like a solid back, extra large sun canopy and larger than average storage basket, that makes it lie in a category I call luxury compact.

{ disclosure:  I received a sample of the Mamas & Papas Armadillo City stroller for review.  No other compensation was exchanged.  As always, all opinions expressed here are my very own. }
