My UltraShape Story – Part 2: First Impressions

so this machine is going to do what to my mom?!
so this machine is going to do what to my mom?!

If you haven’t read Part I :

Before I started my treatment I got a chance to sit down with Dr. Marina Peredo of Skinfluence where I am getting my treatments.  First of all, she’s gorgeous and if you’re going to take skincare advice from anyone, let it be someone you’d want to look like too. If you had to go by looks, I’d say we were in good hands but she’s got the creds to boot too.  In addition to being a board certified Dermatologist, she is also an Associate Clinical Professor at Mount Sinai training physicians on various skincare techniques and technology as well as serving as a primary investigator in multiple FDA clinical trials. She definitely knows a thing or two about looking good.

strapped in, fat front and center… ready to get blasted!

We talked candidly about why UltraShape is perfect for me and moms alike. Many of us, if not all, are super busy running from one errand to another. None of us have the time to have surgery and then rest and recover for weeks.  Treatments take under an hour, it’s a series of 3 treatments and there isn’t any downtime at all!  I was able to squeeze in my appointment and make it in time to pick up my children from school and you know it’s all about my schedule for me. I also ran 4.5 miles later that afternoon too and felt awesome!

So this is me, 4 days after my first treatment in the “goaled” bikini.  Not bad eh? Still more work to go but still impressive so far!

I know you want to know the inside scoop on the UltraShape procedure, a completely non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that is FDA-cleared to blast stubborn fat cells with Ultrasound.  The whole experience is very benign.  The first thing they do when you enter the room is take your before picture.  While I’m not sure if this is standard for all offices, I know I certainly will appreciate seeing the before and after shots. The technician told me in advance that the set up itself took the most time and even so, not even too long at all. I changed into a pair of disposable shorts and got strapped in and by strapped in, they strap you into a contraption that really brings the fat and area to be worked on front and center.  I’m absolutely horrified to show you this, but this is my reality. I wanted to throw up when I saw the pictures, but again, reality. No one tells you that your stomach will look like a hot mess after children.  Seriously, I’m shocked my husband still wants to have sex with me with a stomach looking like that.

Summer 2014 – My Man of Steel

Of course the one person who’s not on board with this is my husband, which makes it really tough.  There was some tears shed. He thinks I just need to work harder. Almost a decade of doing nothing and expecting a years worth of fitness isn’t going to cut it according to him.  He says I need a few more years. Of course when you look like he does… ripply muscles and washboard abs… he can say that. Again, that’s what I sleep next to each night with my flabby sagging stomach and feeling like this for a couple of years doesn’t sit well with me. I don’t completely disagree, he does go to the gym religiously and has been since before I even met him. I do believe that I will have to continue to work hard, but I need a little help too. Until my next post… What questions can I answer for you about UltraShape?
