The New York Renaissance Faire has always been a go-to event for my family. My husband, two boys and I get a kick out of riding a school bus from the parking lot, exploring the enormous event and walking around among the wenches. The kids love the jousting and the costumes and the pageantry, and I am oddly comfortable with a giant turkey leg in one hand and a stein of grog in the other.
This year the Faire invited us to check out the all-new Mike the Knight live show, which will appear in several other cities this year. This is no “pull-up-a-bench-and-settle-in” show — no way! Mike, his trusty steed, Galahad and friends team up to train Faire-going kids to “Be a Knight, Do it Right.” Under a pretty, striped tent all the wanna-be knights learned to ride Galahad and wield a sword properly.
After the show, kids posed for photo ops with Mike and they even got to take home a toy sword, which saves parents the $40 and the endless nagging for the wooden one that’s sure to take his little sister’s eye out.
Watch for the all-new Mike the Knight live show at an event near you and take your knight in training to learn from the master.
