How to Be the Best Patient: Give the Doctor What He Wants #VZWBuzz

KinsaRight now my littlest one has pneumonia and its such a sad sight to see him like this. He’s battling a fever with runny nose and a cough that sometimes turns into vomiting.  All I want to do is snuggle with him and make him feel better. Usually by this time my home is a mess. I’ve got thermometers every where (Type A mom that needs several readings each time), I’m always scrambling to find a piece of paper to quickly jot down what his temp is and if, what medications I gave him.  What results is little random scraps of papers here and there, tissues, piles of dirty clothing all over the place, dishes piling up in the sink, etc. When I call our pediatrician I’m always scrambling to find all the sheets of papers, recall what I did and when. It’s not the systematic organization that I like and am use to. It’s chaos! I am okay with it for the most part because I know it’s only because one of my babies is sick and he’s my first priority. After each and every time though I always remark that I need a better system to keep everything organized. I’ve tried notepads, putting into my ever favorite Evernote app, trying to rely on my memory, none quite perfect.

I’m such a gadget person and my phone is never far from my reach so when I discovered the Kinsa Smart Thermometer it was love at first sight. It is everything I ever wanted in a thermometer.  With its free app on both iPhone and Android, the Kinsa thermometer connected to your phone, records temperature readings, symptoms, allows your to add notes and even add a photo if you’d like.

  • Super easy to set up and install
  • Multiple profiles for everyone in your family
  • Various methods – Oral, Armpit and Rectal
  • Fun bubble popping game for kids while collecting reading
  • Super fast under 10 second reading
  • iPhone app and Android app are identical, no learning curve needed.  I tested the Kinsa Thermometer on both my iPhone 6 (video below) and Motorola Droid Turbo (image attached) with no issues.

  • the ability to add notes right from the reading. Currently you have to go back and edit the reading to add additional information or a photo.
  • have its own branded probe covers, outfitting other branded probe covers require some adjustments. Being the Type A mom, I want to know I am getting the absolute correct reading each and every time.
  • room in the carrying case for probe covers, making it the perfect travel thermometer.

I love having all the information it collects all in one place, at the exact time with all the information my doctor wants to know.

  • What’s the child’s temperature?
  • What method did you use to obtain the temperature? Oral, Temporal, Ear, Armpit, Rectal? If I can use the same method each an every time, that is most helpful in providing the doctor with accurate and consistent readings. Occasionally I may collect an additional reading with a different method, but I give my doctor both readings for that time.
  • What are the child’s symptoms?
  • What medications or interventions have you provided already?

With the Kinsa Smart Thermometer and my phone, I have all that information right at my fingertip. I love how my mobile phone is helping to make my life easier and more organized, especially when it comes to my kids health.
