Trust Merck, Trusted by Professionals Since 1899 and Now You!

There was a time, long ago, before I was in the medical field that any medical talk would leave me flustered and feeling really stupid. I hated feeling like that and thus avoided any conversations that related to science or medicine and even avoiding doctors in general. Of course at some point in your life, you’ll need one and can’t avoid the conversation. Not understanding simple things when a doctor was talking to me and needing to have blind faith that they had my best interest at heart was scary for me. In part I blame my crazy need to […]

ANAPHYLAXIS: We’re All at Risk

There has been a lot of focus on anaphylaxis in the news thanks to Mylan’s NOT recent, but gradual price hikes to a shocking approximate $750 per prescription. While that is horrifying and a reality for many families, I am fortunate enough to work for a wonderful healthcare system which covers my 2 sons’ prescriptions.  Between the 2 of them, we always have on hand 4 prescriptions at any given time. Given Marcus’ history alone, with his over 2 dozen life threatening reactions that have required the use of the epi-pen jr, it’s heartbreaking to know that this start of […]

A Whole New Way to Fight off the Mosquitos with PARA’KITO @parakitoUSA

Summer is in full swing and that means lots of summer concerts, camping, hiking and of course, tons of outdoor play.  Being outdoors is a given in this warm weather.  My family enjoys being outside until long after the sun has gone down.  Together we run through sprinklers, go on long bike rides and catch fireflies at sunset.  We have endless thoughts of perfectly quaint family outings and barbeques and out adventures are always seemingly picture perfect.  Summer fun seems like it comes without flaws or without nuisances.  What our happy pictures don’t show are the little things that can […]

About Ellie Beatus

After spending the bulk of my childhood in New Jersey, I've had the privilege of living in many different places all over the world. I have experienced many incredible things in my life, but none as amazing as when I become a mom. I may work as a full time registered nurse, but I am also a full time mother. I believe that there is nothing more important in the world than my family, and I cherish every moment spent with them. I hope to be able enrich my children's lives by sharing in wonderful experiences, teaching them life lessons, and nurturing them as they grow and help to make the world a better place for all of us. (Ellie currently resides in Long island, NY with her two young sons and husband)

Sleep, Is It Really Overrated?

Listen here kids (and Dads!).  You want a NO frills, NO cost present for mom? Consider this, let mom sleep in! In a survey of my mom friends, we all agreed that we are sleep deprived. To get ourselves through it, we all have taken to using the same blanket statement, “it’s overrated”. But really, is it? A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP CAN: improve one’s memory, so mom’s not frazzled wondering where her keys are, or what class you’re suppose to be at and what time. help you live longer and don’t you want mom around forever?! improve your health, meaning less […]

Pampers Swaddlers Honors Nurses with #ThankYouNurses Awards

Nursing isn’t just any career, or a routine way to make a living. It’s a profession that takes a certain type of passionate and caring person. Nursing feels more like it is an art form that requires devotion, dedication and a strong sense of compassion. Being a nurse often means putting others before yourself and often being away from your family to care for someone else’s.  Most nurses can say that they have missed countless holidays and family moments over the years. Despite all this, we, as nurses, don’t go to work looking for recognition or praise. We go to work every day […]

Boring Oats No More! Try #McCannsIrishOats

Ever since I discovered Steel Cut Oatmeal, I haven’t gone back. Gone are the days of bland oatmeal! I only ate oatmeal when I wanted to eat better and the other choice was a greasy bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel. Yep, the choice was obvious if I didn’t want to have a heart attack any time soon. I kinda got use to the bland flavor and it was simply a thing I needed to do every morning – eat a better-for-you breakfast. Checked that off the list! Then, on a road trip that landed us staying at a […]

Fitness Goals

It’s 2016 and I’m back. Following my foot injury which not only hurt me physically, it also majorly effected me mentally. I slumped back into my fitness funk, packed on some wonderful holiday weight which I have zero guilt about because it was DELICIOUS! But it’s time to get serious again. Getting on that scale the other day and seeing it tip way more than I expected was horrifying. Yes I know I’ve got body image issues, but we’ve all got things we don’t like about ourselves and for me it continues to be my mid region and more recently […]

Go Nuts over Wonderful Pistachios! #GetCrackin

The only time I get cooking is around the holidays but of years late, my dishes have gone on repeat and lack the luster they use to bring.  It was definitely time to add some new dishes to my holiday repertoire. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love pistachios but there is so much more to this nut than just salt roasted crack ready versions and of  course pistachio ice cream.  I had no idea how versatile and festive this nut could be and after a fun night with the team at Wonderful Pistachios and My Cooking Party, I can’t […]
