Pair Up with JCPenney and Help Make a Difference!

It’s hard to believe that we’re just a few weeks away from the start of school. While this definitely is anxiety provoking, it is more so and for a different reason for many others. More than half of all children under the age of 18 are low income. What does that mean for these kids and their parents?

Things that we all take for granted, basic things like socks and underwear, are the anxieties these families have to deal with. 55% of these low-income children, who do not have underwear or socks want to skip school, or even worse, don’t go to school because they were embarrassed by their lack of.

46% of parents living in poverty have said that underwear is one of the hardest items to find at second-hand stores, garage sales or through friends and family. That statement alone is heart breaking. To be honest, whenever I donate clothing, I always toss things like socks and underwear because they are such a personal, basic item, it never occurred to me that anyone would want used underwear and socks.

That’s why I love JCPenney’s Pair Up Program. Teaming up with the Y, they are sending underserved kids across the country with the most basic of things, NEW socks, and NEW underwear. From August 1st to the 15th, for each pack of kids’ socks or underwear you buy, JCPenney will donate a pack to the Y for kids in need – up to 750,000 pairs! That’s stylish new socks and underwear for your kids and some for another! If that doesn’t bring a smile to your face…The JCPenney Foundation is also making a $1 million donation to the Y to help close the academic achievement gap!

JCPenney is a no-brainer. It’s our go to for stylish, affordable fashion and beauty merchandise (that in-store Sephora!) for back to school and all year round. You always know you’re going to get a great deal! Want to hear more and see some of the ON-TREND back to school fashions, tune into Cool Mom Picks on Facebook LIVE on Tuesday, August 1st at 1PM CT.
