The hustle and bustle of the holidays is upon us… some of us are definitely feeling the stress more than others!
While I’m sure the kids are mostly looking forward to opening their gifts, our family has changed the conversation. Each night as we wind down for the evening, my family sits down to reflect on the meaning of these holidays.
With all three kids now in school, I’m enjoying the time to engage their minds and inspire learning during the holidays. From talking about holiday traditions and meanings, opening their advent calendars to writing holiday cards to friends and family.
This is the first (most exciting) year each child was able to help with the hundred plus cards we send out each year. Ava (9) and Marcus (newly minted 7 year old) had a great ol’ time teaching their baby brother, Lucas (3) all about the Post Office. I love that the magic is not lost on the older two, but it’s definitely way more than a magical place where packages and presents come from. Thanks to the Pretend & Play Post Office
($29.99), my littlest one was able to imagine and visualize all that his siblings were teaching him. He particularly loved the included soft-sewn mail bag and the process of mailing the cards!
Some lucky families will get a handwritten note from my older ones or a personally autographed card as they practice their penmanship! Some might even get an upside-down stamped envelope or even more special, a hand-addressed one!
