One of my absolute favorite holidays is Thanksgiving! There really isn’t a holiday that is more about good food (and company of course) than Thanksgiving. But preparation for Thanksgiving can be quite the undertaking. Ever since my mother in law moved in to help with the kids, she also took over my kitchen. The only time I really get to be in the kitchen is during the holidays. Even so, these days I’m more often running around with the kids and its become harder and hard to plan and put together an entire meal. Its become simply nicer to be a guest, than the host of a huge Thanksgiving undertaking.
But I realized it doesn’t have to be as stressful as one can imagine. New York City, the city of instant gratification and endless possibilities brings authentic and delicious Thanksgiving meal thanks to Hill Country BBQ. My husband is obsessed with good BBQ. One of the first purchases we made when we moved into our new home was a grand BBQ grill. He clocked countless hours trying to perfect his ribs and even ventured into smoking his own brisket! So when he tells me Hill Country BBQ is the real deal, it is the REAL DEAL. A meal at Hill Country BBQ always makes him happy. We even celebrated his last birthday at Hill Country BBQ in New York City.
I recently learned you can take an entire Thanksgiving Meal to go which is so awesome! I wish I had know about all their offerings as my husband probably would have preferred a perfect Turkey prepared by pitmaster Ash Fulk than by me. I can’t guarantee a perfect turkey. You may recognize him from Top Chef and his creations can be found at Hill Country BBQ.
Being the queen of shortcut cooking these days, I plan on complimenting my meal with some of the amazing sides at Hill Country like their amazing Texas Toast Stuffing. It is to die for! I was never a big fan of stuffing until I tasted Hill Country BBQ’s Texas Toast Stuffing with sausage. I recently have become a huge fan of collard greens and Hill Country BBQ’s is perfection! It’s a tough one to cook, I’ve had some that are too tough and have a bite to them, but their recipe is perfect and a great way to put greens into my kids this holiday. They have all the traditional Thanksgiving fixings like Sweet Potato Bourbon Mash, Cornbread with Ancho Honey Butter and so much more. Check out their full menu and offerings here.
Wanting a true NYC Thanksgiving?! You can make a reservation at either the NYC or Brooklyn location and have your entire meal there. Hill Country is founded by Mark and Kristen Glosserman, amazing parents to 4 kids, all while opening 5 restaurants in the last 7 years. They made sure their restaurants are family friendly! Make your reservations fast, I hear they are quite booked already!
