Making your senses dance with delight, Sommelier’s Selection at #SpuntinoWestbury

© SUZANNE M. CHAN 2013We just can’t get enough of Spuntino Wine Bar &Italian Tapas and their delicious tapas menu. A fun option for a light meal or girl’s night out is choosing the Sommelier’s Selection Tapas Tasting Menu.  The concept is very similar to what Japanese restaurant’s call Omakase.  Where the choices are impeccably chosen by the Sommelier and perfectly paired with a selection of their premium win offerings.  It’s a great opportunity to try dishes that you might have overlooked, after all the menu does leave you breathless with choices.  It’s also great for wine newbies like myself to be guided through different wines.  A few of my readers and I got a chance to sit down and chat blog while checking out their Sommelier’s Selection Tapas Tasting.

© SUZANNE M. CHAN 2013Our tasting was made up of 3 courses:

Course 1: A Beet and Goat Cheese Terrina made of red and golden beets layered in goat cheese with a balsamic glaze, paired with a prosecco rose, Sorelle Casa “Secco”

Course 2: Speck in Carozza which had smoked prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, roasted red pepper on rustic bread, pan fried and  accompanied by house-made tomato sauce.  It was paired with a light and fruity white wine called Argiolas ‘Costamolino’, Vermentino.

Course 3: A classic Eggplant Parmesan with a delightful crisp to it, drizzled in house-made tomato sauce paired with Ala Vecchia ‘Lagone’, Super Tuscan

CHAN 2013Our little group was having so much fun and enjoying each other’s company, we decided to go a little rogue and continued to eat off their menu before finishing with their dessert selection.  You know that I had to have my Strawberry Marscapone Bruchette and imagine the glee I had when I found out the recipe is on their website!  The food doesn’t disappoint.  I’m not ashamed to admit after our Sommelier’s Selection of Tapas Tasting, I was back in just a few days for more.  I’ve definitely got my favorite dishes which have become my staple orders at Spuntino Wine Bar &Italian Tapas, but I always leave room to try one new dish each time.

Spuntino Wine Bar &Italian Tapas is located at The Gallery at Westbury Plaza, 1020 Old Country Road.  Open for lunch into late evening, stop by anytime!

{ disclosure:  I received no compensation for my review of this restaurant, although my meal was complimentary. Valued at $25/pp that makes me a pretty cheap date. }
