It’s always fascinating to see what goes into making products we use on a daily basis. AOL’s newest series This Built America took an in-depth behind the scenes look at Dorel Juvenile Group, the makers of some of my favorite brands that I depend on to keep my children safe – Safety 1st, Quinny and Maxi-Cosi. I was extremely impressed to find out that Dorel has invested more than $20 million in its state-of-the-art Dorel Technical Center for Child Safety to drive technological advancements in child passenger safety.
They have continued to be at the forefront petitioning the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to develop side-impact guidelines. Side impact crashes have dramatically increased since the 1980s, and today are the deadliest kind of automobile crash for children. Dorel is always thinking outside of the box, from keeping its business rooted here in the US when competitors were going overseas, to collaborating and knowledge sharing with the racing community. In 2013, Dorel Juvenile introduced its latest advancement in car seat safety, Air Protect + which combines the advanced protection of the Air Protect cushion system with patented GCell HXTM foam designed with hexagonal shapes for superior protection around the torso. Together they provide full body side impact protection.
