GIVEAWAY: It’s Back to School with TJ Maxx & Marshalls!

Oh we’ve definitely fallen in love with TJ Maxx and Marshalls this summer.  I use to loath places like this.  I envisioned piles and piles of clothing in no particular order, complete dismay.  It wasn’t until someone phrased it to me as a treasure hunt recently that I understood.  You have to treat me like someone with a pathological fear.  I must absorb it in increments, or in this case section by section.  What better place to start than the brand spankin new TJ Maxx that opened up recently in Ridge Hill.  Have you been?  Ridge Hill is this awesome hidden little town up in the hills of Yonkers.  Once you cross the threshold you know you’re somewhere completely different.  Even more shocking?  Ridge Hill’s TJ Maxx is NOT piles and piles of clothing in no particular order.

Now it’s time for Back to School Shopping!  While “A” wears uniforms at school, she still could use a few new pieces of clothing for the once a month dress down day and of course all those playdates!  So I was off to tackle the children’s section at TJ Maxx.  Taking the statement of treasure hunt to heart, I felt like I hit the jackpot.  My first section, the boys clearance rack yielded my first gem.  An Ed Hardy T-Shirt for my BAD boy for only $5.99!  I was flabbergasted.  I have seen their kids shirts upwards near $35-$50 each and here was my find for only $5.99 and an original price quote of $19.99. Next stop the girls clearance rack where I found more precious gems.  I snagged an adorable DKNY Riding pant style legging for only $9.99 and two pairs of Paper, Denim & Cloth jeans for $9.99 and $12.99 respectively.  You heard right, Paper, Denim & Cloth!  I didn’t even know they made kid’s clothing.  I remember, back in the days, buying one singular, solitary pair of Paper, Denim and Cloth jean for over $125.  They were the softest and well fitted jeans I had ever owned.  I repeatedly said, Shut Up!  Paper, Denim & Cloth for kids?! for only $9.99?!?  I seriously want to know where their buyers are shopping, because those prices are unreal.

Some Back-To-School Trends to keep in mind this season:

  1. COLOR.  I love that kids can wear just about anything.  It gives this NYC mom, famous for her Black wardrobe, a pregnant pause when my daughter looks too darn cute in bold colors.  It colors this season include Yellow, Oranges, Reds and Purples.  Not a typical color palette I would wear but I am opening up to them now.
  2. PRINTS.  Prints paired with COLORS totally works! A splash of this and a splash of that… Who knew! The best part?!  They hide a multiple of stains.
  3. STATEMENT SHOES.  Now my princess needs to wear black shoes as part of her uniform.  I dreaded this part of shopping because, well how personal can you get with a criteria as Black Dress Shoes for a child.  I was surprised to see the selection available and that black shoes aren’t just black shoes.  With bows or embellishments, you can truly let your child make a statement.  We’re particularly digging sparkles this year.
