Everyone has one of those stories where you say one thing but they heard something else and it turns into one funny mess!  Nothing amuses me more than a conversation with my 3 year old and getting what her interpretation of the story is.

Picture this, I’m driving my mother in law and 3 kids into the city.  My mother in law is sitting shotgun with the children sitting neatly in a row in the back.  My conversation with her grandmother went something like this.

Mom:  Where are your gloves?  It’s cold outside.

Me:  Oh my God!  This morning this guy shoved me on the train platform and my gloves flew out of my hand and onto the train tracks.  I was sooooo mad.  He just kept rushing past me, shrugged his shoulder and said sorry.  I mean really, was he sorry?! argh!

Mom:  Oh.

Me:  That’s okay, I called [DH] and told him and he must have been in a good mood because he said that’s okay, he’ll buy me new ones.

A:  Mommy?  Um Mommy?  Excuse me Mommy?

Me:  Yes A.

A:  Mommy, you lost your gloves?

Me:  Yes A.

A:  Daddy said he’ll buy you new ones?

Me:  Yes A, wasn’t that nice of daddy?

A:  Mommy, next time if you want new gloves, you just throw them in the garbage okay?  Daddy will buy you new ones.  Okay?

Me:  Um…. Okay…

Mom:  You think I taught her that? She thinks of this stuff on her own.

Me:  Um…. Okay there….
