Holiday Gift Guide & Giveaway: Under $50

{ As usual, comments are closed for this post’s GIVEAWAY }

I’m totally having some sort of love affair with RC toys this season because I can’t imaging any boy (or girl) not thinking the  Disney TRON Legacy Light Cycle: Sam Flynn — Zero Gravity RC Vehicle (Age 8+) is the coolest thing they’ve ever seen!  First of all, you have NEVER seen an RC toy like this before I can guarantee.  The movie hits literally weeks before Christmas and kids are going to be clamoring for this toy that drives UPSIDE DOWN and UP WALLS… yep, you read right… UPSIDE DOWN and UP WALLS.  I totally want one…

Are you Team Thomas or Team Chuggington?  Right now the infant loves both but I’m sure one day he’ll choose.  For the Team Thomas we love Mega Bloks Thomas Adventure on Misty Island (Age 3+).  Hot on the tails of their newest DVD release, this set is perfect for this and your Mega Bloks loving family.  Not only is it a stand alone set, but if you’re feeling creative, you can add any Mega Bloks component for extra fun play.  At our house, the toddler has her Mega Bloks Dora’s Buildable Playground Adventures making friends with Thomas.

For Team Chuggington, we love Learning Curve’s Chugginton Training Yard with Loop Action Playset (Age 3+). It’s a truly action-packed experience! Engines plummet down the spiral track, shoot through the motorized launcher, and race around an exciting 360° overhead loop! The motorized engine launcher propels up to two engines, although rumors have it, possibly 3, through the loop. This set includes a die-cast Wilson engine and a Vee figure.

For the older builder, Mega Bloks Ultimate Action Dragon Destroyer (Age 6+) comes with everything!  It’s a fully buildable Ultimate Action Destroyer spaceship with multiple sections, 2 Predavor soldiers and multiple blue power cores and missile launchers that really fire!  Even Dora can get in on a little dragon action here.

If they’re more the sporty type, we’re totally diggin the Razor Sole Skate, a three-wheeled skateboard that fits onto a backpack (clip not included).  In theory it’s designed to stop flying skateboard syndrome!  If your foot’s not riding, neither is the board.

Not to leave the infant out, we love Mega Bloks Pull Along Musical Pirate Ship (Age 1+).  Of course our love for Mega Bloks is never ending.  We’ve got boxes and boxes of classic blocks for the infant to add and create to his hearts content once he’s a little older.  This is a 20-piece buildable pull-along pirate ship that transforms into a treasure hide-out for hours of imaginative play.  It has small wheels underneath allow for an easy, smooth pull that play a catchy pirate song which he loves bopping to and a front-mounted real-working cannon which has me consistently reminding both the boy and the toddler that it belongs to the infant!

For the aspirational parents who want to throw a little hidden education into the holidays, consider the LeapFrog TAG Reading System paired with any of their books and my personal favorite the LeapFrog Tag Maps: USA (Ages 4-8) which takes your child on a coast-to-coast adventure learning fun facts and playing games with the two-sided Tag United States map.
