It’s a Merry Merry Baby’s First Christmas!

0413I can’t believe my Marcus is turning 6 years old in just a few days! It seems like just yesterday I was telling myself I wasn’t in labor because it was simply too early.  I even managed to sit and breath through breakfast with my daughter and husband before asking to be dropped off at the hospital just to be checked out.  I remember being so sure that they would just watch me for a few hours and then send me on home.

At exactly 36 weeks he decided to make an earlier arrival and what an entrance he made!  I remember the frantic call home that the watching for a few hours was turning into an emergency c-section and urgently requesting my husband to get to the hospital as soon as possible. Despite the surreal experience of that day, I knew everything was going to be okay.  He was in the best hands there and thanks to prenatal testing like Natera’s  Panorama Testing, I knew that Marcus did not have the 3 most common chromosomal abnormalities, trisomies 21, 18 and 13. The big joke in our home was he couldn’t wait to celebrate his very first Christmas outside of my tummy!

courtImagine the déjà vu I had when my dear friend, Courtney wound up in an emergency c-section at just 32 weeks. While we were all super excited awaiting the arrival of BUD (Baby Under Development) but definitely not expecting such an early arrival.  At 3 pounds 13 ounces, he was tiny tiny but once again, I was comforted that we knew he was as perfect as can be thanks to the Panorama Testing Courtney had done early in her pregnancy.  You’d never know he was only 32 weeks gestation at birth as he’s been passing through all his hurdles with flying colors.  By day 2 he was on room air, barely needing a feeding tube, eating his momma’s breastmilk like a champ, gaining weight and while it was expected he would be staying until he was at least 36 weeks old, he is already home with his family and preparing for his very first Christmas!

In as early as 9 weeks you can get a glimpse into baby’s development with Panorama Testing and it’s completely non-invasive! Panorama has the lowest false positive rate of any prenatal screening test for the commonly screened chromosomal abnormalities, trisomies 21, 18 and 13. You can even find out the sex of the baby too! That piece of mind can mean everything so they can focus on things like Baby’s First Christmas!
